Depression Have You Ever Bought Something Stupid When At Your Lowest?

Just a question about...not so much retail therapy, per se, but if you've ever bought something that you thought would make you feel better, but then after it was too late, you realized it was a stupid thing to buy?

I did this recently, and I'm sorry to be evasive, but it was something I would rather not mention, but I did so in the hopes that it would make me feel better. That it would break the cycle of despair that I was in. Needless to say, since I'm posting this, it did not work, not at all. That item arrived, it made me feel like an idiot for buying it and it is now hidden away where I don't have to look at it.

Has anyone done this? Tried to buy something to make yourself feel better and then...well...felt worse?

There have been times where, due to my ADD poor impulse control, I bought things when I was feeling down that I later regretted. I've learned not to beat myself up over these momentary lack of judgement mistakes and move on. I'm generally a forgiving person of others and learning to forgive myself and cut myself some slack as well when I fall short has been an ongoing process.

I know that's an area I really need to work on, as well, cutting myself some slack. I can really get down on myself when I do something dumb, and I need to just step back and realize it isn't the end of the world every time.

You are a great guy but yes you need to give yourself some slack. And even if you regret buying it I think that when you ordered or bought it it gave you a moment of happiness. See it for that and say goodbye to it.

This does not define you and says nothing of you as a person. Or how good or bad you are. You are PGen and you are ok!

Its all good.

ok so now you know that the item isn't going to make you feel better, you have learnt something, it wasnt a stupid thing to do.
