The owner is missing

Have you come across forums where the owner (and maybe even all of the staff team) is completely missing. They don't login at all and haven't for an extended period of time.

How do you feel about that?

I have come across it before.

It depends on whether the community has valuable content or whether I am just looking to chat.

This issue can arise through several different situations. For example:

The site may be dead - no other users are about; it basically becomes a graveyard site.
The site owner and staff could have other more critical issues to attend to in their lives.
The other staff may have moved on so the owner may be taking a hiatus.

I see these situations loads of times. The problem is that forums are not what they used to be. No one seems to want to talk, other than to push a photo, express an opinion and don't care whether anyone else is likeminded. Or any other mundane crap minutia that lasts about a nanosecond before it drops out of sight.

It's a shame, because people are losing a resource that could prove invaluable if they only took the time to invest some time into making forums lively and useful.

Yes, a forum similar to this one. No mods listed, no admins listed. Unsure if they're just private or what. It was a shame cause the owner was considering giving me the site for free or wanting some $$ for it. :(

I have seen all of these situations come into play on forums and other sites too.

All instant gratification these days,
